How many seasons have you been skating with the DC Rollergirls, and for which teams?
This is my second season with DC. Proudly skating for the Majority Whips in Season 10, and the National Maulers.
How and why did you first get involved in roller derby?
I discovered roller derby was a thing when I watched Whip It. I got really into it in 2013 when my coworker was skating for a nearby league and I came to check out a bout. I bought skates the next day.
What was your athletic background before learning how to play derby?
I was a dancer as a kid, which I think has translated to my footwork on skates.
What’s the story behind your derby name?
It’s an homage to my hometown, Jacksonville, Florida. But also for my love of Michael Jackson.
What traditions or rituals do you have before skating in a bout?
I have a bout day playlist that I blast in the car on the way to a game. My number 1 pump up jam is “Roar” by Katy Perry.
What’s your favorite DCRG memory?
Just last month when I got my first MVP Jammer award after a game! Also, being named Rollergirl of the month! It feels amazing to be recognized by awesome leaguemates.
