February 27, 2023 — DC Rollergirls is back in action! Our current policy asks that league members notify our COVID Representative if they tested positive for COVID and attended a league event where others could have been exposed. Members will be notified of exposure and asked to take a pause from practice. Members will not be notified of who the exposure was to maintain privacy. The Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) provides the following guidance: If your league has a reported case of COVID, no matter which set of Guidelines you are following, all league members present at an event/practice with a known COVID exposure must pause for five days and are strongly encouraged to test negative for COVID before returning to events/practice.

We look forward to seeing our supporters and skaters at our next event!

January 18, 2021 — After five years in their warehouse practice and event space in Hyattsville, Md., the DC Rollergirls (DCRG) have made the difficult decision to move out, and subsequently close their online store. Since cancelling all in-person events, practices and promotional activities in March 2020, DCRG has been severely impacted by the global pandemic and has not been able to return to their warehouse. However, the league holds optimism in finding a new headquarters and eventually resuming safe practices.
Reopening guidelines put forth by the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) will help guide DCRG through reopening and the tiered structure will minimize risks to skaters and ultimately help reopen the league for public spectating. First practices back will probably be held outdoors.
2021 will mark the 15th season of DCRG and the league is excited to take this time to not only find a new space but to also rebuild and rebrand to create a league that is more accessible and inclusive to interested skaters, fans and volunteers.
“While it was a difficult financial decision to make in vacating the warehouse, we are beyond hopeful to embark upon a search to find a space that better fits our evolving needs as a league,” says Mississippi Blues, DCRG President. “The COVID-19 pandemic has been incredibly impactful to our skaters, volunteers and fans, but our community is strong, and we will rally together.”
DCRG members are currently working with local realtors on finding a practice and event space in the Washington, D.C. region that can accommodate the unique needs of the league.

September 27, 2020 — DC Rollergirls is committed to getting its skaters back on the track safely and responsibly since cancelling practices, bouts, promotional appearances and all other events in mid-March.
Working with protocols issued by the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA), we are monitoring our local COVID metrics and have reached certain benchmarks needed to return to non-contact practice. However, a major benchmark no yet met is the number of new COVID-19 cases within the last 14 days for DC and surrounding counties where skaters live and work. Once these numbers decrease and remain below the standard acceptable thresholds, skaters can return to the warehouse for small group, non-contact skating in the first tier of a seven-tier reopening process set by WFTDA.
To stay connected with DCRG during this time, be sure to check out our social media pages for more updates, news and posts. Thank you for your time and patience as we wait to reopen the league — your support means the world.
